Identified in this picture are Fred Neal (far left) with (believed to be) his cousins Sophie, Johnny and an unknown cousin. According to Barbara Thrall Rogers' 1938 interview with Fred's Aunt, Nancy Johnson-Wyatt, Fred died young in age from Pneumonia or Tuberculosis. Further research shows him included in the 1912 California Indian Census, and then again registering for the World War I Draft, but was unable to serve in the military.Photograph Details
