Chief Bill Tsipo (pronounced "Chepo") was born to Charlie and Susie Chepo, ca. 1863. He was a North Fork Mono and lived at the village site, Takapiwe with his wife Mary Ann (Capp) and their five children; Joe, Arthur, Belinda, Mary and Stella. His parents were the subjects of Charles Shinn's short story, "Old Man Chepo", published in The Craftsman magazine in 1912..
