Sallie (Goodeye) Lewis, born in 1858, was a Chukchansi Yokuts woman who married a white man from North Carolina, Jonathon Lewis. Sallie's family lived on Deadwood Mountain in Madera County. Together, Sally and Jonathon had 10 children and after Jonathon died, ca. 1900, she provided for her children by doing the laundry in the lumber camps as well as picking grapes in Clovis, California.Photograph Details
