Susan Hicks-Johnson was a North Fork Mono Indian woman who, according to a letter she wrote to the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1955, had lived on the land known as the North Fork Rancheria for 37 years. Susan was married to Mike Johnson and she is shown here holding her daughter, Caroline, in her Baby Cradle Basket. Her son Jimmy is to her right, and in front of Jimmy is Johnny, then Mary. In front of Susan is her son Logan.
