Torah case and Torah scroll Iraq 1892-93 Wood, silver, red velvet, glass Temple Museum of Religious Art Fund 1963.04 According to the custom of Jewish communities in the Middle East, the Orient and North Africa, with the exception of Morocco, the Torah scroll was placed in a cylindrical case, called a tik. This example is wood, with a silver and red velvet overlay, and decorated with floral motifs.
