Torah Ark Curtain & Valance Poland 1700 Velvet: appliqued and embroidered With metallic thread and sequins Gift in memory of Emanuel Friedman by Arthur and Leo Friedman 1952.2la&b This Torah curtain or parochet and its valance are decorated with a Star of David, a menorah, the tablets of the Ten Commandments, and a crown surrounded by two lions with the inscriptions "brave as a lion" and "crown of Torah." Two columns represent the columns that stood in front of the Temple in Jerusalem.
