Potato DiggerDescription
The bit is upside down ( the piece of flat iron with a curve in it on the right side of the machine) but when working it is reversed so the curve is beneath the circular thing with the forks. The curve lifts the dirt with potatoes up. The circular piece with the forks actually rotates as the machine is pulled ahead. The forks go into the ground and flip the potatoes / turnips or whatever out on top of the ground where they then are picked up by hand. The machines maker is cast into the item. There is a page on this machine in our website. ( there is an even stranger potato digger out in the boneyard. The wooden wheels are long gone but it appears this machine has the circular piece with the forks turned 90 degrees so it points down into the ground and the forks are arranged in a spiral so the potatoes are brought up and then flipped out on top of the ground.
