ND2026.01Description
Taxidermy Snowy Owl, Western Screech Owl, Northern Harrier, Merlin (previously gyr falcon), and American Kestrel(previously sparrow hawk) (ID not the same as original but original was questioned due to inaccuracies).
Due to unknown age of these mounts and based on comments/observations from curator at the Manitoba Museum, these samples were most likely made with arsenic soap and dangerous chemicals for pest prevention. Because of this, these specimens should be handled minimally and with proper safety techniques (latex gloves and N95 mask).
This is the first entry of a new system for cataloguing items that are put into Catalogit at a certain time but have been donated at a previous unknown time. ND2026.01 = (no date)(current year/year cataloged).(number this year, the next would be 02, 03, etc.)Collection
