Swan Hellenic Cruises was founded in 1954 by the London Swan brothers as a charter service which offered cultural-educational cruises to ports in the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Middle East. The line operated until 1983, when it was sold to Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co. (and then to Carnival Corp., by extension in 2003). The line resumed operation in 2008, under new ownership, as Swan Hellenic CruisesCollection
