The Companhia Colonial de Navegacao - CCN - was created in 1922 by the Agricultural Society of Ganda, the Company of Angola and Amboim Ed. Guedes Ltd. to operate cargo and passenger services between Portugal and its colonies, particularly those in Africa. The company also offered a number of services to Central and South America, as well as destinations in the United States and Europe.
In February 1974, the CCN joined the Company of Navigation Insulana to form the Portuguese Maritime Transport Company (CPTM).
