This folder consists of three items:
1.Passage Folder De La Rama Line Far East...USA: Undated, single-page folded brochure. Cover features bright, graphic print of Phillipina woman in traditional outfit observing the M/s Dona Aniceta underway. Brochure provides telegraphic addresses for principle agents and offices, both in the Far East and in the USA. Black and white photos depict the line's ships: "M/s Don Isidro", "M/s Don Esteban", "M/s Dona Aniceta" and "M/s Reinholt". The centerfold consists of a color graphic of the US and the Far East with ships routes shown in gold foil. Ports of call include: New York, Hampton Roads, Savannah, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Manila (and the entire Phillipine Archipelago), Hong Kong, Shanghai and Kobe. Deckplans and black and white photos of accommodations featured.
2. De La Rama Phillipine Line to the Far East via Panama Canal: Undated, single-page folded, bicolor brochure. Cover features small cameo of the M/s Dona Aniceta in 3/4 profile. "Far East" in kitchy 1950's "oriental" font. Interior text provides an overview of the line's mission and provides general info. General info suggests that line was primarily a shipping line, as stops at ports of call were determined by the provision of sufficient cargo to make the stop worthwhile. Blue and white photos depict accomodations.
3. Ships Plan for M/s Dona Aurora: Undated, single page. Appears to be carbon-copy. Original pencilled notes on Wing-tanks and Peaks table, as well as notes on Holds statistics. Back of plan features handwritten note: "M/s Dona Aurora" RDK Sister Vessels Dona Nati, Dona Aniceta". Plan notes that the Dona Aurora was built in Trieste in 1939. Dona Aurora was sunk by enemy action on Dec. 25, 1942 and was the subject of the precedent-setting lawsuit 344 US 348 De La Rama SS Co. vs. USA, in which De La Rama sought to have the US War Risk Insurance Act repealed so damages could be collected for the loss of the Dona Aurora.Collection
