Scope and Content

This folder consists of five items: 1. TSS Olympia Cruise Accommodation Plan: Undated, single, folded newsprint page. Provides accommodation plans for the TSS Olympia. 2.The Journal of Commerce-Olympia Number- No. 39, 475 Friday May 21, 1954- 129th Year "Greek Line's Olympia": Multi-page stapled, newspaper format advertising periodical. Cover is tricolor, features photo of the Olympia in drydock flying Greek flag. Articles provide statistics for the vessel, and information about her construction. Advertisements featured throughout feature products and vendors employed somehow in the vessel's construction. Printed in Liverpool by the proprietors of Charles Birchall and Sons, London. Possibly a periodical intended as a maiden-voyage souvenir showcasing progress in British shipbuilding, (Olympia was built in Glasgow by Alexander Stephen and Sons, and sailed to port in Liverpool, where most of her fittings originated, on her maiden voyage.) 3.4 Gala Lido Cruises to South America and West Indies- TSS Olympia- Under Charter Exclusively to Simmons Cruises Inc.: Large, single folded newsprint page. Undated. Provides extensive deck plans for the Olympia. Unusually large format 4.TSS Olympia- Greek Line: Multi-page, stapled black and white, legal-sized booklet dated 1954. Showcase booklet for the ship dated to around the time of her launch. Provides photos of accommodations and ammenities, and features a cross-section deck plan. 5.Mediterranean, Greek Islands, Black Sea Cruise: Single, folded, color page. Dated ca. 1959-60. Provides photos, port information, rates, general information, deck plans and itineraries for a 52 day cruise Departing New York Feb. 2, 1960, to 18 ports in 14 Mediterranean and Baltic ports.
