Moore-McCormack Lines was founded in 1913 by Albert Moore and Emmett McCormack . The company operated out of New York City, and ran dynamite transport vessels to Brazil. With the outbreak of WWII, the line saw its fleet shrink, temporarily, as ships were requisitioned, but by the end of the war, the line had gained numerous vessels, which it gained from the Maritime Commission. The line ceased operations in the early 1980s due to fiscal hardship caused by the oil crisis of the 1970s.Collection
