Norwegian Caribbean Lines is the original name for today's Norwegian Cruise Line, which was founded in 1966 by Knut Kloster and Ted Arison, in Miami-Dade County Florida. The line was the first to offer sea/air services, and the line's first two vessels had the capacity to carry vehicles as well as passengers. The line was one of the first to offer a multitude entertainment venues/programming types, which each had their own devoted, permanent space in each vessel. Today (2011) the line controls about 8% of the world's cruise market.
One of the original co-founders Norwegian Caribbean/Cruise Lines, Ted Arison, left the company shortly after its founding to found Carnival Cruises.Collection
