Description

Spencer Browning & Rust, London in Box, Old 262-L. Dark Wood Frame (Probably Ebony) with Brass Arms and Fottongs. Bone(Or Ivory) Scales. Glass Lenses and Mirrors, Clear and Colored. Made By Spencer Browning and Rust, London. Wood Box with Brass Hinges and Hook. .001: Octant .002: Box 9-11-97 Notes: 1. Extensive Water Damage Has Been Sustained By Octant Due To Water Leaks in Capt.'s. Cabin on Star. 2. I Suspect This Octant Is Actually a Duplicate of 39.2. Many Items That Had Been Around the Museum For Some Time Were Inventoried and Accessioned in 1981. It Was Probably Not Matched Up As There Was No Old "N" Number Affixed To the Box--Only the Number 262l. That Number Does Not Match Any Numbering System That I AM Aware of Here At the Museum. M.
