Scope and Content

This folder consists of eight items: 1.RMS Orcades, Orient Line: Multi-page, tricolor, stapled booklet. Dated June 1955. Fictitious personal letter between a friend who is sailing on the RMS Orcades and a friend home in England. Text and photos describe/depict the luxury of the ship's accommodations and amenities. 2.Provisional Plan, Orient Line RMS Orcades, Tourist "B" Class Accommodation: Single, chart-sized folded page. Undated, ca. 1950s. Deck plans for the RMS Orcades. 3. The New Orient Liner Orcades: Multi-page, color-cover stapled booklet. Undated, ca. 1950s. Features photos of ship's interiors, passenger accommodations for "B" tourist-class. 4. The New Orient Liner Orcades, Description and Technical Details: Multi-page stapled, bicolor cover booklet. Dated 1948. Text describes the specifications of the vessel Orcades, and provides general cruise information, such as the location of the purser's office. Small color-illustrations inset into text depict ship's interiors. 5. SS Orcades Pacific Voyage Cabin Plan--First Class and Intermediate First Class: Single, large chart-sized page. Dated 1956. Deck plans for first and intermediate first class passenger accomodations. 6. P&O-Orient Lines, SS Orcades Tourist Class Accommodation, Pacific and Panama Service: Single page, folded, tricolor cover brochure. Undated, ca. 1960s. General pictorial overview of accommodations and amenities for tourist passenger class aboard SS Orcades, (brochure is from post- P&O Lines buyout.) 7. P&O Orient Lines, Orcades, FIrst Class: Single page folded, bicolor brochure. Undated, ca. 1950s. Pictorial overview of the First-class cruising experience. 8. The New Orient Liner Orcades, First Class Accommodation: Multi-page stapled booklet, undated, ca. 1950s. Pictorial viewbook for the vessel Orcades. Full-page photos depict ship's interiors.
