This series consists of one folder:
The Oriental Steamship Company, aka the Toyo Kisen Kabushiki, was founded in 1896 to operate between Yokohama and San Francisco carrying cargo and passengers. The fleet consisted of about five vessels which sailed the transpacific route unhindered until the outbreak of the Ruso-Japanese War in 1902, when the line's vessels were taken for war purposes.
The line reestablished service in 1906, and operated successfully until the mid 1920s, when, because of financial infeasibility, and the obsolescence of the fleet, the line dissolved.Collection
