Scope and Content

This series consists of six folders: Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd. is a Tokyo-based freight shipping company, founded in 1187 by a group of 55 independent Osaka ship-owners. It is now privately owned as part of a family-owned conglomerate of Mitsui Zaibatsu. The line began offering passenger service in the early 1900s between Asian and Indian ports, and later expanded its service to include North and South American ports. Today the line operates mainly freighters and a small number of local Japanese passenger ferries
