Scope and Content

This series consists of one folder: Pacific Cruise Lines was a subsidiary of the Alaska Steamship Company, founded in 1946 to fill a post-war luxury-yacht cruise niche. The line operated tycoon JP Morgan's former yacht, "Corsair IV", sailing to ports in Alaska, Mexico and South America. The vessel accommodated only 88 guests, and each stateroom had its own full bathroom. The line dissolved shortly after the vessel Corsair IV was beached, and finally sunk, (with no loss of life) off the coast of Acapulco on Nov. 12, 1949. The vessel remains a popular shipwreck dive-site, (as of 2011).
