Scope and Content

This series consists of two folders: Princess Cruises was founded in 1965, by American Stanley McDonald chartered a Canadian Pacific Limited vessel to sail a Mexican Riviera route while the line's ordered flagships were being constructed. In 1974, British P&O Steam Navigation Company bought Princess Cruises from McDonald and began operating the line as a subsidiary. The line is currently (as of 2011) owned by P&O, which is now, itself, a subsidiary of the Carnival Corporation. Two Princess vessels, the Island Princess, and the Pacific Princess were featured in the US TV series "The Love Boat".
