Scope and Content

This series consists of two folders: Royal Caribbean Cruise Line was founded in 1968 in Norway by Norwegian shipping companies IM Skaugen and Co. and Gotaas Larson and Co. as a pleasure-cruise ship line. The line is still in operation (as of 2011), and is now a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. of Miami FL. Nearly from its inception, the line has distinguished itself by offering unique features like; enlarged, futuristic vessels, extensive shipboard recreation, including indoor rock-climbing walls and artificial-wave surfing and the ability to disembark at Royal Caribbean owned properties in Haiti and the Bahamas.
