The series consists of correspondence between San Diego Vice-Mayor Frank E. Curran and Robert J. Mills, Past National Commander of the National Association of Navy and Marine Veterans of the Spanish-American War discussing the recognition of July 21, each year as a day to commemorate the sinking of the U.S.S. Bennington in San Diego Harbor (July 21, 1905). Included in the series is a letter from Robert Mills, Division Commander, announcing the date, time and location of the first annual Reunion of the Pacific Coast Division of the National Association Navy and Marine Veterans of the Spanish and American War.Collection
