MV Aureol first-class
smoking-room door
Nicknamed “The White Swan”, Elder Dempster Lines’
Aureol was arguably the most beautiful ship to serve
the Liverpool to Lagos run. This door reflects post-war
British craftsmanship at its finest with its solid wood,
etched glass, nickel and leather components. Retired in
1974, Aureol was sold to Greek billionaire John S. Latsis
for use as the accommodation ship Marianna VI in Saudi
Arabia and finally scrapped in 2001.
