This series consists of six folders:
The Swedish America Line, or Svenska Amerika Linien, was founded in 1914 to ferry passengers between Gothenberg Sweden and New York City. In 1927, the line began providing pleasure cruising and ordered several devoted cruising vessels, notably, the MS Stockholm, (which would later accidentally sink the vessel Andrea Doria,) and the MS Kungsholm. The line was the first to outfit its vessels for off-season cruising.
Several of the line's vessels served as Italian, British and American troop transporters during WWII, and were, post-war, returned to service as cruise vessels. The line sailed worldwide, even, at one point, offering hovercraft connecting service from British ports, until roughly, the early 1980s.Collection
