Scope and Content

This series consists of one folder: Typaldos Lines was a subsidiary of the Aegean Steam Navigation Company. The line offered ro-ro vehicle transportation between Greek Islands. The company's vessel SS Heraklion was wrecked in 1966 with the loss of 200 lives. Haralambos Typaldos, the owner of the line, was sentinced to jail time for the wreck, because he ordered the captain of the SS Heraklion to sail in winds reaching level 9 on the Beaufort scale, and he had no safety contingency plans in place for any of his vessels. The line appears to have dissolved after this incident. Pending Addition of Better Information
