Starboard side view of the Long Island underway at sea at cruising speed, flying US Colors from forward main mast, full load of aircraft on the flight deck, launched 11 January 1940, launched 11 January 1940, as APV-1, commissioned AVG-1, designated ACV-1 on 20 August 1943, changed to ACV-1 and then to CVE-1 on 15 July 1943, scrapped May 1977.
