Description

Miniature cast iron W.& A. R. R. train advertising Ferancee-HP iron deficiency anemia medicine

Context

From gallery label: Most of the items in this case are drug advertising pieces distributed to pharmacists and doctors as gifts or 'premiums' in the last decades of the 20th century. The focus of this display is items suitable for the office, specifically for one's desk--such as pen holders, clocks, calendars, and paperweights. Three objects of particular interest were produced by Stuart Ferancee - HP. This company used miniature cast-iron anvils, toy trains, irons, and toy frying pans--as shown here--to cleverly promote their products aimed at rectifying iron deficiency anemia.
