The white relief sculpture [far right] is a reproduction of the tombstone of Jason, the 2nd century C.E. Greek physician; the original, made of Pentelic marble (2' 7" by 1' 10") is in the British Museum. The scene shows Jason engaged in a palpatory examination of his patient's gastrointestinal tract. This charming, decorative object was produced in the 1970s or '80s for the drug company William H. Rorer, headquartered in Fort Washington.Category
