Beavis and Butt-Head Production Cel (Beavis and Butt-Head)
MTV
c. 1993–1997
Hand-painted animation cels on printed background
This original production cel setup was created for the animated television series Beavis and Butt-Head, produced for MTV during the mid-1990s. The series was created by Mike Judge and followed the misadventures of two teenage friends whose commentary on music videos and popular culture became a defining feature of American television animation of the period.
The cel depicts Beavis and Butt-Head seated on their living-room couch, a recurring setting in the series. The figures measure approximately 3.5 inches in height and are rendered on a two-layer, 12-field animation cel setup. The painted cels are affixed over a printed background using artist tape, and production codes are visible along the lower edge, reflecting standard studio animation practices.
Original production cels such as this one document the hand-painted animation techniques used in television animation prior to the widespread adoption of digital production methods.
Condition: Very Good; light production handling wear, slightly torn pegholes, and minor debris consistent with studio use.Create Date
