Quartz GeodeDescription
A geode is a mineral-lined cavity formed within rock. Mineral-bearing fluids entering the cavity can deposit successive layers of material along its walls, while crystals may grow inward into the remaining open space. This specimen is lined primarily with quartz (SiO₂), a trigonal mineral with a Mohs hardness of 7. The geode has been opened to expose its internal crystalline surface.
