Margie Crisp is a naturalist, writer, and nationally exhibited artist whose work appears in private and public collections in the United States and Mexico. She holds a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin and is a member of the Centennial Painters group and the Art of Texas State Parks Project. Crisp has served as the Texas Book Festival poster artist and is the author of several award-winning books that combine natural history, place-based writing, and visual art.
Firefly Fandango depicts nocturnal insects in a natural setting, reflecting Crisp’s longstanding engagement with the natural world as both an artist and observer. Her visual practice runs parallel to her writing, which includes River of Contrasts: The Texas Colorado and The Nueces River: Río Escondido, both published by Texas A&M University Press and recognized with major literary and illustration awards.
Crisp lives near Elgin, Texas, where she continues to work as an artist and writer alongside her husband, artist William B. Montgomery.Type of Print
