Description

Pink Panther Production Drawing (Rocky Pink) Production drawing no. P-15 Rocky Pink MGM / DePatie-Freleng Enterprises 1976 Graphite and colored pencil on 12-field, 3-peghole animation paper This original animation drawing depicts the Pink Panther walking away in a subdued pose during a scene from Rocky Pink (1976). The drawing was created for a sequence appearing at approximately the 2:55 mark of the film, as the character is hurried out of the kitchen by Mrs. Pink Panther following an attempt to retrieve his “pet rock.” Rendered in graphite with colored-pencil accents, the drawing shows the character at an early stage of motion planning. The sheet is marked “P-15” in the lower right corner, indicating its position within the animation sequence. Physical characteristics such as pegholes, numbering, and surface wear reflect its function as a working production drawing. Rocky Pink was theatrically released on July 9, 1976, and is notable as the only Pink Panther short to feature Mrs. Pink Panther. The film’s production code is 492, marking it as the final short produced with title-card credits and a soundtrack by Walter Greene and William Lava. Character image: approximately 2.5 × 4.5 inches Condition: Good; light tear near bottom edge, minor age-related toning, and handling and edge wear consistent with studio use.
