Plesiosaur Teeth (Plesiosaurus mauritanicus)

Name/Title

Plesiosaur Teeth (Plesiosaurus mauritanicus)

Description

Beautiful teeth of Plesiosaurus mauritanicus. Plesiosaurus is a genus of extinct marine reptiles. Plesiosaurus means 'near lizard'. They had a long flexible neck with forelimbs that resembled paddles. The teeth measure 5.2 and 4.3 cm. Often during excavation the teeth are broken in the seam, hence one tooth has been glued. They are otherwise completely original. I took these teeth on my next-to-last trip to Morocco in April 2025. They come from the phosphate quarries near Oued Zem in central Morocco.
