Fire Agate PairDescription
Fire agate is a variety of chalcedony, a microcrystalline form of silica (SiO₂). Its characteristic iridescent colors are produced by light interference associated with thin layers of iron oxides within the chalcedony. Fire agate commonly forms as botryoidal material in cavities within volcanic rocks. These two specimens have been polished to expose the internal color-producing structures.
