Grafton Mass,
My dear Mr & Mrs. Harrington,
I was not feeling my best when the lovely roses from Mrs. Harrington and yourself arrived and produced a most cheering effect. I was much surprised to receive the roses just at this time, for even the most presuming person would hardly expect to be remembered at just this period of your life however it is perfectly characteristic of you. I was going to send a line to Mrs. Harrington and yourself wishing you all happiness but if in your great happiness you can still think others less fortunate than yourselves it is a foregone conclusion that your lives will be happy. If I am not long in the earth life it is much pleasanter Mrs. Harrington to think of George with one who will love and care for him, and as year by year goes by, you will find as I have, more and more his sterling north. Thanking you both for your kindliness.
I am sincerely your friend

Everything in the collection (letters, manuscripts, typewriter, wedding dress, documents, books) was found in the attic of 18 Pine Island Road, Mattapoisett in 2022 and donated by the new house owners. This house was owned by Harrington and his wife. They subdivided the land and created Winnatuxett Beach Rd. George and Marian Harrington were the first couple ever married in St. Philips Church on Water Street. They were married in 1898.General Notes
