Article from the Sunday Standard, New Bedford, Mass. "Seven shipmates never to get medals, Whareham man belives". Photograph caption: Charles R. Studley of Whareham, believed to be the only known survivor of the crew of the whaleship "Young Phoenix" on her voyage in 1875 is show at the right discussing with Collector of Customs William J. Fitzgerald a medal awarded one of his shipmates on that voyage who never received it. Studley himself was awarded a medal for his part int he rescue of 42 survivors of the wreck of the Scottish bark "Strathmore". Two pages, story continues from page 1 to page 8.
