Provenance

Notes

Donor Patricia (Dennis) Goss provided the following note: " The two-piece dress/ suit was worn by my grandmother, Mary (Lyle) Dennis somewhere around the early 1900s. Bang Street in Provincetown, Massachusetts, was where she made her home with her husband, Joseph Dennis, and son Reginald. She designed and made women's hats and had rooms to let in their home, which helped the family financially. Joseph was a carpenter by trade and built many of the small cottages along the shore entering Provincetown. Both Mary and Joseph had families who originated from the island of Pico, off the coast of Portugal."
