MK_0197Description
One of a pair, these artful bronze horses stand stoic in the promenade corridor of the Mauna Kea, replete with harnesses and saddles.
The captivating Japanese pieces were cast after folk models of low-fired clay horses, each animal with a stylized head with tall pointed ears, shortened elongated body, and tubular shortened legs. Part of the Mauna Kea's extensive collection of Japanese art, these horses invite guests to connect with the rich artistic and cultural heritage of Japan.
This treasured piece has been in the Mauna Kea's collection since 1965, when Laurance Rockefeller developed the hotel, and has recently undergone an extensive restoration.Made/Created
