Description
Figured and fancy coverlet tied double cloth (Beiderwand). Top edge covered with twill tape, self fring on two sides and applied fringe bottom. Two panels joined by a center seam.Red and blue wool with undyed cotton. Central motif consists of medallions of four roses alternating with fleurettes. Surrounding the medallions are eight-pointed stars. Side border contains pinwheels and trees. Bottom border is a repeating vine and basket motif. Secondary border on sides is a row of eight-pointed stars. Woven by Henry K. Frederick for S. Brendil in 1846.
