Description

Natural and navy figured doubleweave coverlet attributed to Thomas Cranston. Donated to the Jefferson County History & Art Center in 2025 by Mr. Ed Beveridge of Montana. Mr. Beveridge is the great-great-grandson of the weaver, Thomas Cranston. He believes Cranston's daughter, Agnes, had four coverlets made by her father. As she was unmarried, the coverlets passed down to two of her nieces. This coverlet eventually came to Mr. Beveridge's mother, Maxine Fern (Anderson) Beveridge, great-granddaughter of the weaver through his son John C. Cranston.
