Description

Figured and fancy doubleweave coverlet panel with borders on side and bottom and self-fringe on bottom. Single panel. Navy and red wool with undyed cotton. Floral mosaic centerfield pattern; floral border on side; passenger pigeon border on bottom also known as "lovebirds" or "kissing birds." Woven by Matthew Rattray in 1852 with eagle trademark cornerblock.
