Description

Figured tied beiderwand coverlet with borders on 3 sides and self-fringe on both sides and bottom. Two panels joined by a center seam. Red and navy blue wool with undyed cotton. Tulips and snowflakes centerfield pattern; distelfink border on sides and bottom. Woven by Philip Seewald for John Shomleffle in 1847.
