Description

This figured & fancy coverlet was likely made in New York state. It was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a centerfield pattern with two alternating rows of floral/thistle motifs, with doubled birds between the rows. Borders on all four sides have stylized dogs with trees. The four cornerblocks have a sailing ship logo. The doubleweave structure combines a layer of undyed cotton with a layer of dark blue wool. It has no fringe.
