Entry/Object ID

Description

This figured & fancy coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a floral centerfield pattern of floral cross motifs in a grid, which repeats horizontally four times. It has a rooster and bunding border on the sides and a distelfink & rose border on the bottom. The coverlet has horizontal color stripes of red and dark blue wool on undyed cotton ground with self-fringe on the sides and bottom. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses light blue cotton tie-down threads in a 2:1 warp ratio. Two stylized cornerblocks read "OHIO" with a pair of cornucopias and floral embellishments.
