This figured & fancy coverlet was woven by Christian Yordy in Willow Street, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania for Christian Yordy in 1841. The two cornerblocks read "Made by C. Yordy Willow Street for Christian Miller 1841." The letters "DCH" are sewn onto one corner block by the date. The coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a centerfield pattern of pairs of solid roses, which repeats horizontally four times. It repeats vertically without reversing direction. The coverlet has a distelfink & rosebush border on the sides and bottom. The coverlet has horizontal color stripes of red, dark blue, and green wool on undyed cotton ground with self-fringe on the sides and bottom. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses undyed cotton tie-down threads in a 4:1 warp ratio.Collection
