This figured & fancy coverlet was woven by David Steiner in Brecknock Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It is undated. The two cornerblocks read "Made by David Steiner Brecknock Township Lancaster County Patent." The coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a "Lilies of France" centerfield pattern with sunbursts, which repeats horizontally four times. It has a distelfink & rosebush border on the sides and bottom. The coverlet has horizontal color stripes of red, dark blue, and light green wool on undyed cotton ground with self-fringe on the sides and applied fringe on the bottom. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses undyed cotton tie-down threads in a 2:1 warp ratio.Collection
