This figured & fancy coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a floral centerfield pattern with alternating rows of double cabbage rose medallions, floral swags, and quatrefoil motifs, which repeats horizontally 3.75 times. The coverlet has symmetrical floral borders on the sides and bottom with a cornerblock that reads "The Rose 1850," mirrored 4x.
The doubleweave structure combines a relatively balanced layer of undyed cotton warp & weft with an unbalanced layer of undyed cotton warp with red wool weft. The coverlet has self-fringe on the bottom edge.Collection
