Description

Red and natural figured double weave coverlet; two panels joined by center seam; acanthus border on three sides; no fringe; acanthus and snowball centerfield pattern. Harry Tyler (1801-1858) used a lion trademark in coverlets dated 1834 to 1844. The eagle trademark with the slogan “E Pluribus Unum” was used in Tyler-style coverlets from 1845 to 1862. The coverlets made in the four years after his death were likely woven by his daughter, Cynthia.
