This figured & fancy coverlet is attributed to Frederick Uber. It was woven in Middletown, Frederick County, Maryland and is undated. The two cornerblocks read "Middletown Fredk. County Maryland." The coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a "double rose" centerfield pattern with flower blossoms; the pattern repeats horizontally four times. The coverlet has grapevine borders on the sides and bottom. The coverlet has a red wool pattern on unevenly-dyed blue cotton ground with self-fringe on the sides and bottom. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses blue cotton tie-down threads in a 2:1 warp ratio.Collection
