Description

This figured & fancy coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a centerfield pattern with leaves and flowers in a rectangular grid, which is mirrored and horizontally repeated six times. It has double train borders on the sides and single train borders on the bottom, in which the coal tenders are inscribed "No 240." Where the borders meet, the small cornerblocks contain only a floral logo. The doubleweave structure combines a layer of red wool with a layer of dark blue wool. It has self-fringe on three sides.
